TROUT TELL THE STORY.
Fish Tale Restoration LLC is a small Montana-based consulting firm that specializes in the ecological restoration of cold-water trout streams. Here at Fish Tale, we assess wild trout populations in damaged streams, then individually tailor habitat restoration projects to the biological potential of the natural stream system. Depending on the specific nature of the problem, we bring an expert team to help develop/implement restoration projects. In addition to assessment and design, we offer agency/landowner coordination, permitting services, construction oversight, monitoring and evaluation. We mostly work with private landowners who want to learn about, and improve, their trout fisheries.
RON PIERCE - owner of Fish Tale Restoration
Ron Pierce is an AFS certified professional (emeritus) fisheries biologist with 37-years of field experience. His work history includes 30-years as a Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks fisheries biologist in the Blackfoot Basin Montana. His stream restoration work is nationally recognized, broadly published and highly applicable to problems afflicting western trout streams. Here at Fish Tale, we specifically investigate how altered channels, low flows, elevated water temperature and sediment (and other human-induced conditions) adversely influence aquatic habitat and wild trout populations. We also coordinate construction and monitor/evaluate completed restoration projects using a variety of metrics.
